*Welcome to Starswift Acres*
The Beginning
My love of borzoi began in the 7th grade (1994). My friend Marie Sajewicz-Glodowski of Zareba Ridgebacks introduced me to the "Russian Wolfhound". In 2006 when I finally bought my own house, I also bought my first borzoi. From there I was addicted. I bought my second borzoi a year later. Bartleby took me on a whirlwind ride in the world of lure coursing and racing. I added a few more borzoi in the following years.
In 2010 I entered the show ring for the first time. Finishing my first show champion within a year of first competing. While a fun hobby, the conformation ring holds very little value with how I view a dog. Lure coursing will always hold my heart, while health and temperament will always be #1
I ventured into breeding after titling multiple dogs, researching pedigrees and learning ideal structure for a running dog. With expert and honest guidance by my mentor, Anne Midgarden DVM, Bartleby became the foundation of my breeding program. Lost far too soon, he brought many amazing people into my life and into borzoi.
The Present
My goal is to continue to improve the versatility of my lines with the borzoi standard as a base. Functionality and rock solid temperaments are also the main drive of my own lines. I breed for myself first and foremost. I do not breed to fulfill puppy needs or colour wants. I breed what I believe to be the best matches to attain my breeding goals. All parents are health tested with CHIC# from the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation For Animals) and I believe in total honesty when it comes to my dogs health and their results.
